- 总体的听写是一种指向识字的问题和发展书写文化的活动。
- 这是一种为了所有的人开放的自愿的听写，其在俄罗斯和世界各地的数百座城市里同时举行。
- 总体的听写在全球上同时地进行，用相同的文本、条件和评价标准。
- 职业语文学的讲师在每座城市里主持监事会。

总体的听写是在NSU创建的
2004年第一次总体被"人文科俱乐部"（NSU的人文科学院系的创意联合会）的学生举行了。
从2004年到2008年读文本的人都是NSU的讲师。
自2010年以来NSU是总体的听写国际活动的中心，当代俄罗斯的作家来我校自己读从他们作品中选好的文本为大家听写。
NSU是总体的听写专家的中心
NSU普通语言学和俄语语言学教研室的讲师是专家小组的核心，他们对文本提出方法建议，因此全世界上几千个地方对听写的评估和要求是相同的。
新西伯利亚国立大学不仅是第一个写总体的听写的地方，而且是第一个为了总体的听写准备好参加者的地方。2011年免费的"星期五的俄语"预备课程开始了。现在这样的课程在几所俄罗斯大学里举行。
新大的专家小组不仅建议如何评估听写，还研究结果：它在语言规范的动态中关注变化，发现引起争论的地方并对它们提请俄罗斯科学院的正词法委员会注意。
NSU的总体的听写是为了语言学专业的学生们提供现实生活实践的场所。通过跟老年的同事一起评估听写，学生们学习使用他们的理论知识的灵活性。

- Work with the author, preparation of the text of the dictation
- Guidelines for the commentaries
- Preparation and testing of the online-courses
- Coordination of the federal assessment of the dictation
- Preparation of the rules of Russian language that might be useful for the dictation and their explanation for a 5 minutes "likbez" (likbez in Russian refers to the campaign against illiteracy conducted in the 1920s and 1930s in USSR)
- Conducting the classes "Russian on Fridays", preparation classes to the dictation for all interested people
- Development of a base of educational resources for the interactive educational platform of Total Dictation (video lectures, slides, exercises and so on)
- Preparation of a database of commentaries
- Coordination of the second territorial zone (Urals, Western Siberia, cities in Eastern Siberia)
- Development of a test based on the text of Total Dictation for people studying Russian as a foreign language
- Coordination of the federal assessment of the dictation
